The Local Health Integration Network consists of 14 regional agencies (LHINs) that were established in 2006 to manage the planning, integration, performance, and funding of the health care system.

LHINs are community-based, non-profit organizations funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to plan, fund and coordinate services delivered by:

  • Hospitals 
  • Long-Term Care Homes
  • Community Care Access Centre (CCAC)
  • Community Support Service Agencies
  • Mental Health and Addiction Agencies
  • Community Health Centres (CHCs)

As Crown agencies that work in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC), LHINs provide leadership and accountability for the health care system at the local level and ensure that the health care needs of Ontarians are identified, coordinated, and addressed in a truly integrated system. Local accountability gives communities the opportunity to become involved in health care planning.

TechGuilds worked with the LHINs’ IT management body (LSSO) to redesign and migrate all the 14 sites from Ektron to Sitecore.

Engagement

During our engagement with the LHINs we provided Sitecore consulting and CRM thought leadership to bear. In addition to the design/build solution, we continue to provide level 1, 2, and 3 Sitecore support services to all 14 LHINs as well as provide CRM level 2 and 3 support along with a variety of training services including Google Analytics. Our development team worked with, integrated and customized the following technologies, tools and modules:

  • Ektron CMS (export data)
  • Sitecore WCMS v7.1
  • Sitecore calendar module
  • MS Dynamics CRM
  • Coveo Enterprise Search

Results

  1. An easy to use, comprehensive website search feature, plus a “LHIN locator” feature where site visitors enter a postal code to locate the closest LHIN
  2. Clearer governance and security procedures & separation through Sitecore’s multi-site and workflow features
  3. Significantly improved CRM and Sitecore support response times
  4. Custom Events Calendar which highlights relevant upcoming events on each LHIN’s home page
