New York University is a private research university in New York City. It is among the largest private universities in the US, providing a rigorous, demanding education to more than 50,000 students and undertaking nearly $1 billion in research annually. NYU's websites had years' worth of disparate templates and components built using different and old versions of Adobe Experience Manager, resulting in poor content editing experience. TechGuilds was engaged to consolidate, modernize, and unify.

Challenge
NYU's websites had years' worth of disparate templates and components built using different and old versions of Adobe Experience Manager, resulting in a poor content editing experience. Users had multiple usernames and passwords to log in to different systems and applications. The calendar application was not connected to the websites. NYU wanted to fix that and add new functionalities.
Approach
Component consolidation and codebase migration
TechGuilds consolidated years of multiple template and component versions into a standard set usable across different schools, built so each school can extend and brand them as needed. Four codebases were migrated from AEM 5.x to 6.1: NYU main site, NYU Dentistry, Silver School of Social Work, and NYU Gallatin.
New functionality and integrations
Single sign-on was implemented for content authoring. Contents and users were migrated from old to new templates. The team integrated with Cvent for an events calendar connected to the websites, created the Program Finder tool, Global Nav, and NYU News.

Results
Streamlined and improved content authoring experience with enhanced security.
Improved flexibility using well-architected and easy-to-customize components.
Modern platform that is up to date.
Better service and user experience for website audiences: easy way to navigate and find programs, better experience navigating through the different schools, and the ability to see and filter news easily.
