SitecoreAI is the current name for Sitecore’s cloud platform. XM Cloud is still the underlying CMS product inside it. If you’re on XM Cloud today, you’re already a SitecoreAI customer. No replatforming, no data migration.
Here’s the background.
The Timeline
Sitecore announced the change at Symposium on November 4, 2025, and the global launch followed on November 10, 2025. Every existing XM Cloud customer was upgraded automatically.
SitecoreAI isn’t a new product built from scratch. It’s a consolidation. XM Cloud, Search, Personalize, CDP, Content Hub, and Stream’s AI capabilities, previously sold as separate products, now ship as one package under one name.
Where Did My Product Go?
Sitecore’s own website no longer lists separate products. It describes the platform by capability. Here’s where each familiar name now lives:
| Old product name | SitecoreAI capability |
|---|---|
| XM Cloud | Content Management System |
| Content Hub (DAM) | Digital Asset Management |
| Content Hub (Operations / CMP) | Content operations |
| CDP | Audience and insights (unified profiles, included in every plan) |
| Personalize and Search | Conversion optimization (personalization, on-site search, A/B testing) |
| Stream (AI features) and Agentic Studio | AI and agents |
| No equivalent | AI search: new, built on Sitecore’s Scrunch acquisition. It covers how your brand shows up in AI answers like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews, not search on your own site. |
What’s New
Some of this is naming. Some of it is real.
Agentic Studio is new. Built-in AI agents running across the platform are new. Some of the authoring interface has also been reorganized: Planning (Projects) is now Strategy, and Portfolio (Sites) is now Channels, which manages sites and collections in one place.
The core CMS you’re authoring in hasn’t changed, and neither has content delivery.
What Stays Exactly the Same
Your XM Cloud contract stays valid until renewal. You don’t need to migrate content or replatform anything. If you were already using Search, Personalize, or CDP, the base package now includes entry-level entitlements for them, with usage limits. Heavier use, and some Content Hub features, still cost extra.
Why the Confusion Sticks Around
Sometimes the two names are used interchangeably within the Sitecore community, so it’s easy to see why the two get mixed up. In most conversations, they refer to the same platform.
FAQ: If You’re on XM Cloud
Do I need to migrate again?
No. If you’re on XM Cloud, you’re already provisioned into SitecoreAI.
Is my XM Cloud contract still valid?
Yes, until renewal. You may be asked to accept additional terms in the Sitecore portal to unlock the new SitecoreAI entitlements.
Is Stream part of SitecoreAI?
Stream continues as a separate add-on module for Sitecore’s self-hosted Experience Platform (XP). In SitecoreAI, its features live on as Brand Assistant and brand context, part of the AI and agents capability.
Do I need to do anything right now?
Nothing is required to keep your site running. Worth reviewing what’s now in your entitlements, since some of it may be included at no extra cost. Content Hub isn’t switched on automatically; you have to request it.
FAQ: If You’re on Sitecore XP or XM
Did the SitecoreAI launch change anything for me?
Not directly. The automatic upgrade applied only to XM Cloud customers. XP and XM are still separate, self-hosted products, and Sitecore continues to support and update them.
Do I have to move to SitecoreAI?
Not because of the launch. The date that matters is when support ends for your version. Extended support for Sitecore 10.0 and 10.1 ends December 31, 2026, followed by 10.2 at the end of 2027 and 10.3 at the end of 2028. If you’re on one of those versions, now is a good time to decide whether you’ll upgrade in place or move to SitecoreAI.
Is moving from XP or XM to SitecoreAI a migration?
Yes. XM Cloud customers were upgraded automatically, but XP and XM sites have to be migrated. Most XP and XM sites are built on MVC, while SitecoreAI is headless, so components, templates, and features like forms need to be rebuilt for the new platform. Your content comes with you, though it often needs restructuring along the way.
How much will the migration cost?
That depends on your site, which is why most migration quotes come with a wide range and a time-and-materials contract. TechGuilds prices it differently. Our Kajoo.ai platform audits your site and maps your components before we quote, so we can migrate it for a fixed price. If something within the agreed scope takes longer than estimated, we absorb the cost.
Planning a Move from XP or XM?
TechGuilds is a Sitecore Partner that has helped brands like Porsche and the American Bankers Association with their migration projects. Kajoo.ai, our agentic delivery platform, automates the repetitive parts of a migration, while our Sitecore experts sign off on every step. For Porsche, that meant migrating more than 3,000 forms across about 400 dealer sites at 10x program velocity. For ABA, it meant 10 sites live in 11 months, with each new launch seven times faster than before.
If your version is nearing the end of support, the sooner you know what a move involves, the more options you have. We’ll audit your site and give you a fixed-price plan for getting to SitecoreAI.
